We dispatch welded gabions out of our shared Burton-on-Trent facility alongside our partner company, Enviromesh. All BBA-approved cages are produced in partnership with certificate holder Link Middle East Ltd (BBA 05/4215), complying strictly with British and European civil engineering standards.

1. On-Site Production

We custom fabricate and stock thousands of certified gabions directly at our UK facility. All of our gabions are fabricated in Burton-on-Trent from the same BBA-assessed Link Middle East mesh panels.

3. British & European (BS EN / ISO) Standards Compliance

Our gabion cages are manufactured, tested, and specified in accordance with the following official engineering frameworks:

BS EN 10223-8:2013	Specifies wire tensile strength, 75mm x 75mm mesh aperture tolerances, and minimum 75% weld shear strength.	Our mesh: 75mm × 75mm aperture, wire tensile strength 540–770 N/mm², welds at least 75% of the wire’s tensile strength Supplier evidence: Manufacturer’s specification
BS EN 10244-2:2009 (Class A Coating)	Non-ferrous metallic coatings on steel wire including Zinc or Zinc-Aluminium alloy coatings.	All wire is Galfan coated (95% zinc and 5% aluminium), achieving Class A heavy coating weight for corrosion resistance. Supplier evidence: Manufacturer’s specification
BS EN 10218-2:2012	Steel wire and wire products including wire dimensions and diameter tolerances.	Wire diameters are made to strict tolerances across our range: 3mm, 4mm and 5mm Galfan-coated wire, and the steel core of our 3.2mm and 4.3mm PVC-coated wire. BS EN 10245-1 & 10245-2:2011	Organic coatings on steel wire. Part 1 sets the general rules; Part 2 covers PVC-coated wire, including coating thickness, adhesion and resistance to ageing.	Our PVC-coated gabions have a grey polymer coating applied over Galfan-coated wire, giving two layers of protection. That’s why they’re our choice for coastal, salt-water and polluted sites, with an expected life of up to 120 years (BBA Certificate 05/4215). 2.7mm and 3.8mm Galfan steel cores with a grey plastic coating, giving 3.2mm and 4.3mm overall. 4. Gabion Stone Standards & Sourcing

Our gabion stone comes from two UK suppliers, Holcim UK and Marchington Stone. Class 6G is the gabion fill classification in the Specification for Highway Works, the standard used for UK road schemes: fill must be hard, durable, not frost susceptible and no larger than 200mm.

How we describe stone size: quarries grade stone by sieving it to measure how wide each stone is. Every bag has a few smaller pieces, so on our product pages we show the size most stones are: about 82% of our granite and 88% of our limestone is over 80mm, and nearly all of our gritstone is over 80mm. Some stones are also longer than they are wide, so you may find the odd one bigger than the range.
