Built with WireFence (Sue’s Chicken Run) | October 2026

1. October’s Built with WireFence

Sue’s chicken run, built just in front of the porch, is our winner this month. The timber-framed enclosure is covered with wire mesh to keep stoats away from the chickens, giving them a safe space outdoors.

After searching the internet I stumbled across Wire fence. I did a
little research and saw some amazing reviews. Still a little sceptical
as I think good reviews are AI generated, I decided to go ahead with
the purchase.
I’m so pleased that I did. I spoke on the phone first to double
check the mesh I wanted was in stock. I then placed the order Friday
afternoon and was told it would be dispatched Monday and delivered
Tuesday. I rang Monday to add a roll to the order which was no problem
for them.
The wire was good quantity. And was excellent for what we needed to
keep stoats away from the chickens.

2. Honorable Mention – Gabion Retaining Wall

An honourable mention goes to this gabion retaining wall, created by Katrina. Filled with natural stone, it provides a strong, practical retaining structure while blending beautifully into the surrounding garden.

We love seeing how gabions can be used in so many different ways, and Katrina’s project is a lovely example of combining functionality with a natural look.
