Customer Project of January 2025

Following last year’s tradition, WireFence chooses the team’s favourite customer project every month! The project is picked by a monthly vote from review images and submissions via email or LiveChat.

Some months are easier to choose from than others. In January, we had only one review image. That doesn’t make it any less special though. We started the year strong with a secure gate from Clare!

January’s Pick – Heightened Gate

This project belongs to our lovely customer Clare, who decided to use mesh panels to make her gate extra secure and add some height to it.

By attaching three sizeable PVC coated mesh panels to her existing wooden gate, Clare managed to make her property more secure without compromising on aesthetics.

Wire mesh sheets are a smart and efficient choice for similar projects. For one, they come in large sizes and can also be customised to fit any specific area. They’re also rigid so they don’t require extra support like brackets or extenders at the top of the gate, unlike thinner options of welded wire mesh that come on a roll.

One other major advantage of using PVC coated mesh is its durability. This type of coating not only resists weathering from sun, rain, and wind, but also offers extra protection against rust and corrosion. This means that whether you live in a coastal area with salty air or in an urban setting with fluctuating temperatures, your investment will remain secure, functional and aesthetically pleasing for years to come.

By choosing this material, Clare can enjoy the benefits of enhanced security without worrying about constant upkeep. This low-maintenance aspect is particularly appealing for busy homeowners looking to improve their property’s safety without a lot of extra work.

To achieve a similar end result, you can use cable ties to attach the panels to the timber rails just like Clare did. For an even more seamless attachment, you can opt for staples instead. Of course, for other materials, you may need to use different tools and accessories such as bolts, screws and/or wire.
