How to Make a Gabion Letterbox (WITH VIDEO)

OVERVIEW
- Experience Required: Low
- Tools Required: Protective Gloves, Bolt Cutter/Angle Grinder
- Materials Required: 2x Gabion Baskets, Helical Corner Kit , Stones, Letterbox
Step 1) Unfold the Gabion
- Unfold the first gabion, ensuring all sides are properly unfolded and ready for assembly.
- This project was completed using 45×45 gabion baskets.
Step 2) Cut the Helicals to Size
- Measure the dimensions of the panels and cut the helicals to size.
Step 3) Join the Corners
- Fold the side panels and fasten them using the helicals, ensuring they enclose the corners of both panels.
- Repeat the same process for all panels and keep the lid open.
Step 4) Fill Your Gabion
- Fill your basket with stones.
Step 5) Add the Top Gabion
- Assemble the second basket following the same process, and place it on top of the one already filled with stones.
Step 6) Join the Two Gabions Together
- Use helicals to join the corners, ensuring they enclose the panels of both baskets.
Step 7) Fill the Second Basket with Stones
- Continue filling the second basket with stones.
Step 8) Attach the Letterbox
- Place a wooden plank inside the basket.
- Make sure the screw is right above a horizontal wire and the letterbox is positioned where you prefer.
Step 9) Secure the Letterbox
- Secure your letterbox to the wood using an impact drill, ensure it’s firmly fixed and doesn’t move.
Step 10) Close the Lid
- Close the lid of your gabion with helicals.
Step 11) Your DIY Letterbox is Ready
- Enjoy your finished gabion letterbox!

- When handling stones and working with tools to prevent injuries always use protective gloves.
- Double-check the alignment and stability during assembly to ensure a sturdy structure.
