Dogs need our help this Christmas

As the holidays are getting closer and the Christmas lights have been lit up all over the country, we can’t help getting into a festive mood. People are more thoughtful and caring around this time of the year, spreading love and generosity. It’s important that we don’t forget about our four-legged friends during this season – especially the ones that don’t have the luxury of having a loving family to support them during the harsh winter months.

This is the reason why Wire Fence is dedicated to supporting a dog shelter in the Christmas period, in the hopes of making the holiday period a little brighter for abandoned pups waiting to find their forever home.

Why should we support dogs?

  • According to data published on PetKeen, on average, it takes an animal shelter four days to become full.
  • At any given time, there are at least 100.000 homeless dogs in the UK, as reported by PETA
  • According to NAWT, dogs adopted during the holiday season are often returned to the shelters within the following year, due to them growing bigger and posing a bigger responsibility and commitment.

What we are doing to help

100% of the profits made by Wire Fence on the 14th December will be donated to a charity supporting the welfare of dogs.

Results

Thanks to our customers we raised £116 for Berwick Animal Rescue Kennels.

We also donated 100 kilograms of dog food to their pet food bank.

B.A.R.K provides temporary refuge for unwanted and stray domestic animals. Wherever possible it is their objective to re-home them. Their area of operation is north and south of the Scottish Border, although they will take animals in from all areas, in reality this generally means within about 60 miles of the kennels – although they have had animals in from as far North as Aberdeen and as far South as London.

Comment from B.A.R.K.

Thank you so much, such brilliant news. We also run a pet food bank and last week alone we fed almost 400 meals. Such a sad time but this donation will make a huge difference to so many animals.Jan Ross (Kennel Manager)
