Wire Fence Installs Another Gabion Archway for Community Alleyway in Levenshulme

Wire Fence recently installed a gabion archway for a community alleyway garden in Levenshulme. We installed a similar gabion archway last month.

Completed the gabion archway pictured with the alley resident, Emma.

About the Project

Cringle Alley is a local effort aimed at turning a shared alleyway into a pleasant green space. Working closely with resident Emma, the Wire Fence team set out to build a permanent gabion structure for the neighbours to enjoy as a seating area.

The installation involved assembling flat-packed gabion baskets and panels to create a sturdy archway. The finished piece acts as an entrance feature and doubles as a practical support for a rose bush growing over a neighbour’s wall. By adding structure, the project helps improve the look of the alley and gives residents a more welcoming outdoor space to share.

Comment From Resident

Thanks John, the archway is lovley. Hopefully it will make the alleyway look more cared for and help to prevent some of the antisocial behaviour. Ive already posted about this on our Instagram and Ill send you some more pics once we have added the wooden seat.

Comment From Wire Fence

I first connected with Emma through Levenshulme in Bloom, a local circle of fellow gardening lovers. When I set out to spruce up our community alleyway, she was generous enough to donate the initial plants to get things moving. Building the gabion archway was a nice way to say thank you. Keep doing amazing things back there in the alley, Emma:)
