Wire Fence Installs Gabion Archway for Community Alleyway in Levenshulme

Wire Fence recently installed a gabion archway for a community alleyway garden in Levenshulme

Completed the gabion archway pictured with the alley resident, Jason

About the Project

The alleyway project is a local effort aimed at turning a shared urban walkway into a pleasant green space. Working from a simple sketch provided by Jason, the Wire Fence team set out to build a permanent structure for the neighbours to grow plants up.

The installation involved assembling flat-packed gabion baskets and panels to create a sturdy archway. The finished piece acts as a tidy entrance feature and doubles as a practical climbing frame for plants. By adding structure to the alley, the project helps improve the look of the alley and gives residents a more welcoming outdoor space to share.

Comment From Resident

“I want to say a big thank you to John for putting up the trellis archway in our alleyway. The neighbours have all said how much they like it. It makes a nice feature for the alley. I’m looking forward to growing some squash over it, which should look great once it takes off”.

Comment From Wire Fence

I met Jason through a local group called Levenshulme in Bloom, a group of like minded garden enthusiasts.  When I started to improve my neighbourhood alleyway he very kindly supplied plants to kick start the project.  The gabion archway was a nice way to repay him.  Keep up the great work with the alley Jason:)
