June’s Pick – Gabion Fence

This month’s favourite project belongs to Lucy! She used our custom gabions to create a stunning gabion fence project, integrating structure with nature.

Lucy combined the custom-sized baskets with our gabion column kit, using different types of stones to achieve a bold and unique look. She incorporated a mix of limestone and granite stones and finished off with the addition of some bricks for a truly versatile finish.

What makes Lucy’s project even more impressive is the way she has incorporated the vines and greenery into the composition, creating a living, breathing fence. The vibrant greens of the vines beautifully complement the neutral tones of the stones, creating an eye-catching composition.

Lucy’s advice for anyone undertaking a similar project is to measure, measure, and measure again. She recommends using rubble for the interior to save on costs and emphasizes the importance of strong and level footings to ensure the stability and longevity of the structure.

“I used Wire Fence for my first-ever gabion basket project. I did loads of research, and they definitely offer the best products, advice, and super-fast delivery. They are great, and it’s also great that they help dogs too. Fab company!” – Lucy

It would be a shame not to showcase a couple of other lovely customer projects as well, to serve as inspiration for anyone else looking for creative ways to utilize our gabions.

Honourable Mention – Gabion Feature

Cindy’s project is a prime example of an eye-catching gabion feature. She used custom gabions filled with granite stones, and what sets it apart is the incorporation of plants between the stones, creating a natural and beautiful finish. We love her creativity and how this decorative fence adds a distinctive and unique touch to her property.

“Fantastic help with ordering gabion baskets, as I wasn’t sure what I needed. Excellent quality of wire and stone, and super fast delivery. I cannot fault the service and highly recommend them.” – Cindy

Honourable Mention – Retaining Wall for Erosion Control

Lorna and Arthur created this gabion retaining wall to delimitate the stream at the bottom of their garden. It beautifully complements the lush greenery while providing effective erosion control. Their resourcefulness shines through in their creative use of the delivery pallet to construct the gate, which we found to be a brilliant addition to the overall design.

“Very impressed with service, kept up to date with order from time dispatched until delivery.” – Lorna & Arthur

  1. Funnily enough was trying to send photos as friend took pics on Monday. Can’t get them out of messenger as I’m too old for technology. If BURN floods again hopefully it won’t wash away stones. thanks again for help. A & L

    1. Hi Arthur,

No worries about the photos! Technology can be a bit tricky sometimes.

If you’re able to send the photos at any time, we’d always be happy to see them. But don’t worry if that’s not possible – we appreciate your effort! 🙂

As for the flood, if the foundation is solid enough, it shouldn’t be able to move the gabions or wash out the earth beneath them.

Thanks again for sharing this project with us. We hope flooding won’t cause any problems!

      Best,
      Dora
