Project Background
The National Agricultural Soil Research Infrastructure Centre (NASRIC) required a building facade that reflected Ireland’s natural landscape while supporting the project’s sustainability objectives. The architectural design called for a durable gabion basket cladding solution that would blend contemporary construction with traditional materials.
Solution
Custom gabion baskets were selected to create the building’s architectural facade, filled with locally sourced natural stone.

Installation Process
The facade was constructed using approximately 154m² of 4mm thick welded mesh gabion baskets. Once assembled and securely fixed in place, the baskets were filled with granite stone to create a striking architectural feature across the building’s exterior.
Final Result
The completed gabion basket cladding provides a modern, durable exterior that successfully combines sustainable construction with contemporary architectural design.
