Project Background

After growing cucumbers, squash and other climbing vegetables over garden arches for several years, Lavender wanted a stronger solution. The weight of the crops, combined with windy weather, caused her previous arch to collapse, so she started looking for a sturdy alternative that was available in the UK.

Solution

We recommended using our galvanised cattle panels to create a durable growing arch. Two panels, supported by galvanised T posts, formed an arch approximately 1.8m high at its lowest point with a 1.2m walkway, providing a solid structure for heavy climbing crops.

Installation Process

The T posts were first driven into the ground before the cattle panels were bent into shape and secured in place with cable ties. The installation was straightforward and created a strong framework ready for planting.

Final Result

The finished cattle panel trellis provides a sturdy, long-lasting support for climbing vegetables while also creating an attractive feature in the garden. Unlike the previous arch, it is designed to cope with both heavy crops and windy conditions, making it a practical solution for future growing seasons.
