Wire Fence Gives £183 Discount to Support Wildlife-Friendly Garden Project in Hull

On October 4, Wire Fence provided a charity discount of £183 on gabion cages to Environmental & Management Solutions (EMS) for use in the Orchard Park Postcode Gardener project in Hull. The gabions were built with the help of volunteers from Caddick Construction and are used as planters and low walls, creating ideal habitats for local wildlife.

About EMS

Environmental & Management Solutions (EMS) is a charity based in East Hull, established in 2009. EMS Ltd focuses on alleviating food and fuel poverty across Hull, East Yorkshire, North, and North East Lincolnshire. The charity runs a variety of programs, including community gardens, energy-saving resources, affordable food distribution, and educational projects that promote biodiversity and environmental stewardship.

About the project

The Orchard Park Postcode Gardener project, managed by EMS Ltd, aims to create green spaces across Orchard Park, Hull, to enhance biodiversity and community engagement. The gabions, provided at a charity discount by Wire Fence, were set up with help from volunteers and the staff of Caddick Construction. Just in time for Halloween, the gabions were dressed up with cobwebs, bats, and spooky decorations, making them not only a practical habitat for wildlife but a festive sight for the community.

Comment from EMS

“Wildlife gabions are ideal habitat for creatures such as spiders thanks to all the nooks and crannies they create. They’re also ideal low walls for our bike shelter. Thanks to Wire Fence for a great deal.” – John Pickles, EMS

Comment from Wire Fence

“It’s inspiring to see our gabions in action, especially with a seasonal twist that brings attention to biodiversity. We’re delighted to support EMS Ltd’s work in Hull and proud to be part of a project that combines creativity, community, and conservation.” – Dora Pista, Wire Fence
