Wire Fence will give away 100% of our profits made on Sunday 31st January for Big Garden Birdwatch Weekend.

If you are a bird sanctuary, bird park,  or any kind of organization supporting the welfare of birds in need of additional funds please follow the steps on how to apply mentioned at the bottom of this blog.

On the 31st, the organization who gets the most likes on Facebook will receive the donation.

What is Big Garden Birdwatch?

The RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch is the world’s largest bird survey. Thanks to this event the RSPB now has 40 years of data which helped increase their understanding of the challenges faced by wildlife.

Taking part in this event not only helps with collecting data about our bird population but it raises awareness about the importance of making our gardens an attractive place for birds. If you want to take part in observing birds sign up here.

 

Why are Birds so Important?

• According to Birdlife International birds are extremely important to the ecosystem. They eat 400-500 million tons of insects a year and due to that they have become a natural pest control practice.
• Birds also take a huge part in pollinating plants. Hummingbirds and honeyeaters make a big contribution to that, especially in high altitudes or hot climates.
• Birds have helped to shape the plant life we see around us by spreading seeds. When birds travel they can spread the seeds they have taken with them across the sea to new lands.

 

What we are doing to help

To mark the Big Garden Birdwatch Weekend 100% of the profits made by Wire Fence on the 31st of January will be donated to a charity that supports the welfare of birds.

Collect as many likes as you can on your shared post until the 31st of January

The donation will be sent to the organisation who gets the most likes on Facebook until the 31st of January. The results will be announced on the 2nd of February .

 

Results

Thanks to our customers we raised £211 for HART Wildlife Rescue. Your contribution means these incredible people can continue their amazing work of helping birds and wild animals in need.

HART Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity which runs a wildlife hospital in North East Hampshire, providing a rescue, treatment and rehabilitation service for wildlife from all over Hampshire and surrounding counties. The rescue also gives advice to vets, the RSPCA and members of the public from all over the country, as well as providing talks and work experience opportunities for students. HART is run entirely on donations.
