What is National Black Cat Day?

National Black Cat Day serves as an opportunity to help reverse the stigma against black cats that they are somehow evil or bad luck.

It is also a timely reminder that black cats are often harmed leading up to Halloween due to this undeserved belief.

Unfortunate Facts about Black Cats

  • According to the RSPCA it takes 30% longer to rehome black cats compared to tabby cats and 57% longer compared with ginger cats
  • Black cats are less desirable to adopt because they less photogenic than other cats as reported by the Telegraph
  • Black cats are often harmed and abused leading up to Halloween due to their reputation as being evil or bad luck as reported by Metro

What we are doing to help

100% of the profit made by Wire Fence on the 27th of October will be donated to the Band of Rescuers, a charity that supports the welfare of black cats with their Black Cat Awareness program.

If you are a cat rescue centre or any kind of organization supporting the welfare of black cats we would love to hear from you.

Thank You

Thanks to our customers on the National Black Cat Day we raised £135 for the Band of Rescuers . Your contribution means these incredible people can help more cats in the future.
