What Happened?
Fifty carefully painted craft penguins made out of stone were secretly displayed at 4 am on the 20th January at the entrance of Levenshulme train station in Manchester. The owner of Wire Fence, who lives in the area, wanted to surprise early morning commuters with a free penguin gift to help promote Penguin Awareness Day.
There was a message on each of the craft penguins that read
Happy Penguin Awareness Day:)
Please take a free craft penguin. It comes with no obligation whatsoever, but if you would like to donate to a penguin charity, please find a list of excellent charities via the QR code
Happy Christmas
About Penguin Awareness Day
Quote from Wire Fence
The craft penguins are a gift with no strings attached. If someone would like to help support the walfare of penguins, we have a curated list of penguin charities via the QR code. No donation, no problem. We get alot of satisfaction knowing that the penguin display and gift might have made someone smile.
